Yes, Covid19 has drastically changed the way that people do business. More than ever online businesses have flourished because physical stores have been forced to close across Ireland. But that doesn’t mean that you need to move your business online.
There are plenty of things you can do to keep your business ticking over without spending hours uploading product images, writing product descriptions, or trying to understand the difference between a domain and hosting. Here are 4 ways to sell online without starting an online store.
1. Be More Active in Facebook Groups
Facebook Groups are great communities that can be leveraged to sell your product online. I am not talking about spamming hundreds of groups with your products, I mean identifying groups that are related to your industry and being active in them. Provide information about certain areas that you are an expert in, mention your product only where absolutely needed. It is important to follow Facebook group guidelines, which are different to each group, or else you will be kicked out to them.
You may find that there is no group in your area for your industry. This means that you can start the Facebook Group and cultivate it to be what you want. Building a community around your brand is the ideal way to set your business up for success in the future.
2. Check Out Forums and Community Websites
Most of the time, a product or service provides a solution to a problem that people have. More often than not there is also a forum or community website that talks about solutions to a problem that people have. Finding the forum or website that talks about what you offer can mean that you can talk to potential customers and help them understand more about your solution. Again this is not the right place to spam members with product offers. Spending time talking to members and offering support is normally the reason behind these services and you must abide by their rules. Selling online is secondary to this.
3. Establish Yourself on Adverts.ie
Have you considered that the products or services you sell can be advertised and sold on Adverts.ie, Amazon, or another online marketplace? These marketplaces can be competitive but it takes less time to set up your profile, along with products, than if you set up an online store. Furthermore if you stick with local marketplaces, customers will trust you more than a website that looks like every other website out there.
4. Use Instagram or Facebook Ads to Sell Online
Maybe you have time to set up a website but you don’t want to build organic traffic to it through SEO. How about using advertising through Instagram or Facebook Ads to send people straight to your website to purchase your products. Shopify provides this integration where you can easily tag products from your online store in product promotions on your Instagram account, leaving you with more time to spend optimising your budgets and targeting.
